Your Body is Familiar
02:01
|
|||
your body is familiar like the pages of my favorite novel
my fingers navigate the creases in your skin as i slip them below your jeans to discover absolute pleasure
hidden behind coy smiles and cotton panties.
because there is nothing more organic than the way our pulses leap through our throats
as i try to catch my breath with my lips on your beasts
and your hips rise and fall like a mighty empire
as i find my way between your thighs
watching you clench your eyelids together
you exhale; like the roar of the jet i scream
you are the oasis in the desert
you are the shelter in the storm
i fell in love with the sunset as soon i saw it lining your shoulder
that orange giant peering over you, sliding down your neck like i wish my fingers were
you look so fragile in your bed, your hourglass shape shooting off the mattress
i could have broken your hips with one arm
instead i traced them over and over again in the dark
so that when i went home i'd be able to recreate your curves
at least i could keep that piece of you with me when you're gone

How We Really Feel
03:24
|
|||
there is simple beauty in the stars
and how they struggle to shine over downtown
god’s light can’t compete with man made monoliths
i thought all this walking back west to chelsea
we all pretend to find solace in nature
the quiet stillness etched amongst the trees
we observe the natural order and think
following our instincts must make life easy
five minutes after leaving the woods
we chase complications like they feed us
shout “goddamn” into our expensive bedsheets
wonder what made such a mess of things
and in the afterglow
of whiskey and blow
we think we find something real
but when we sober up
drink from our coffee cups
we lie about how we really feel
we’re pushed together by public transportation
shoulder to shoulder, regardless of destination
there should be some epic metaphor here
but we’re too busy keeping our heads down to think of it
when the winter comes we’re packed up in thick coats
headphones dangling out from under our hoods
we’re all so addicted to technology
that prerecorded sound trumps conversation
you can go twenty blocks downtown and feel like
you’re in a completely different city
manhattan serves a unique alienation
we’re always lonely but never alone
and in the afterglow
of whiskey and blow
we think we find something real
but when we sober up
drink from our coffee cups
we lie about how we really feel

Headache
04:42
|
|||
am i your silver medal?
your consolation prize?
the one you wish you had
got away, you realize
nothing is as bad as it seems right now
but that doesn't stop the pain
that doesn't make nightmares go away
you're twisting in the wind
living in natural sin
our bodies collide
please don't let me in on the lie
wrote our names on a piece of paper
folded it, saved it for later
dropped it off the brooklyn bridge
a few blocks from where you live
watched it float down the rivers
towards the endless setting sun
all these words choke me up
i wonder if you're having fun
you're twisting in the wind
living in natural sin
when our bodies collide
please don't let me in on the lie
you're twisting in the wind
living in natural sin
when our bodies collide
i'm so fucking happy i could die.

On Your Knees
02:16
|
|||
on your knees, over me
you placed your hands in a triangle
and slid them up my body
to my neck
laying your chest against mine
we kiss.
i tilt my head back to look up at the ceiling
and think "this is what dreams are made of."
your fingers wrap my hair, twisting strands around
you dig your hips into my hips
i can feel the heat from your jeans seep into my denim
i bit my bottom lip and moan.
there have been great paintings throughout history
works of art hanging in museums
that are not nearly as beautiful
as you were in my bed
staring at me.
you said you finally found a boy that reminds you of your favorite song
i finally found a girl that gives me butterflies.
